Our Community

Gellibrand was created in 1949 to reflect a significant increase in Australia’s population post World War II. Joseph Gellibrand, Gellibrand’s namesake, was the first Attorney General of Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) and was later an early explorer of Victoria.

Stretching from Melbourne’s inner west to the outer suburbs of Wyndham City Council, Gellibrand includes the suburbs of:

  • Newport
  • Williamstown
  • Altona North 
  • Altona
  • Altona Meadows
  • Laverton
  • Laverton North
  • Williams Landing 
  • Seaholme
  • Seabrook
  • Parts of Point Cook
  • Parts of Truganina
